Xiaomi unveiled its new prototype Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, which weighs 126 grammes and has a “retina-level” display, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
To recreate an image, Xiaomi used a pair of MicroLED screens with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits and free-form light-guiding prisms. According to the company, when PPD (pixels per degree) reaches 60, humans can no longer perceive individual pixels. The Xiaomi AR glass display has 58 PPD, which is sufficient. Xiaomi claims to be using electrochromic lenses to adjust viewing in various lighting conditions. The glasses also have a complete blackout mode for a completely immersive experience, similar to a VR headset.
