Advocates of open sourcing in the startup and tech ecosystem are lauding the rise of China’s artificial intelligence (AI) startup DeepSeek, pointing out that data is the new gold.
DeepSeek AI, whose AI assistant took over ChatGPT in terms of downloads on Apple’s App Store on Monday, has released several large language models (LLMs). DeepSeek Coder, DeepSeek LLM and DeepSeek R1 are among its latest releases, and they are free of charge for researchers and commercial users.
