Karnataka High Court directs Centre to initiate blocking of Proton Mail under IT Act

The Karnataka High Court has instructed the Union Government to begin proceedings to block the Switzerland-based encrypted email service, Proton Mail, in India, citing concerns over its alleged misuse and non-compliance with Indian laws.

Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the order while allowing a petition filed by Bengaluru-based M Moser Design Associates India Pvt Ltd, reported LiveLaw.

The petitioner had sought a directive to ban the use of Proton Mail in India due to its alleged involvement in cyber harassment incidents targeting its employees.
