Taiwan’s exports hit record on soaring AI demand

Taiwanese exports hit a record high in September, driven by relentless demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technology, government data showed.

Taiwan is a global powerhouse in the manufacturing of semiconductor chips, which power AI.

The island’s exports rose 30.5% in September from a year ago to $70.2 billion, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said in a statement.

A ministry official told AFP it was a monthly record. The previous high was US$67.9 billion in December 2021.
