Following the Karnataka Government’s order to halt auto services in Bengaluru, ride-hailing apps such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido are unlikely to suspend operations in the city. Furthermore, according to ET, these companies intend to respond to the notices within three days, citing multiple company executives.

On Thursday, the state transportation department issued a notice to these companies after receiving complaints about them overcharging customers for auto rickshaw rides. It requested that auto services be halted within three days. “We have received a notice from the Road Transport Authority, and we will respond within the time frame specified,” a Rapido spokesperson told Inc42. The transport department received complaints against aggregators for charging a minimum of INR 100 for auto rides even for a distance of less than 2 kilometres; in its notice, the transport department called such charges a ‘illegal practise.’
