Global ecommerce giant Amazon is in the process of laying off at least 500 employees across its India tech, product, and operations teams, according to people aware of the matter.

These job cuts, which are likely to increase in the coming days, are a part of the larger worldwide retrenchment of around 16,000 employees that Amazon is undertaking.
