Bharat Ke Super Founders, India’s founder-first entrepreneurial television series streaming on Amazon MX Player, has facilitated a ₹5.5 crore equity funding commitment for Cosmoserve Space, a Hyderabad-based space technology startup working on autonomous robotic spacecraft for space debris removal and in-orbit servicing.
The investment aligns with the show’s stated focus on backing long-horizon, high-impact technologies that strengthen India’s strategic, scientific, and industrial capabilities. Cosmoserve Space is building solutions for Active Debris Removal (ADR) and end-of-life satellite management—an area gaining urgency as orbital congestion continues to rise globally.
As part of the deal, Cosmoserve Space was valued at ₹225 crore, with the ₹5.5 crore investment translating to a 2.44% equity stake. Dr Velumani committed ₹5 crore for a 2.22% stake, subject to the startup closing a larger ₹45 crore follow-on round. Additional participation came from Shivam M and Srini S, who invested ₹25 lakh each for 0.11% equity apiece.
The structured nature of the commitment reflects Bharat Ke Super Founders’ approach of aligning capital deployment with technology readiness, execution milestones, and long-term mission relevance, particularly in deep-tech and frontier sectors.
Founded by former ISRO scientist Chiranjeevi Phanindra, Cosmoserve Space is developing proprietary autonomous spacecraft systems, including its Reviver and Mothercraft platforms. These systems are designed to identify, approach, capture, and safely de-orbit defunct satellites and high-risk orbital debris.
Beyond debris removal, the company is also working on robotic arms, optical navigation systems, and refuelling support devices to enable in-orbit servicing and satellite life-cycle extension—capabilities increasingly seen as essential for sustainable space operations.
The problem Cosmoserve Space is addressing is both global and strategic. With thousands of inactive satellites and debris fragments currently orbiting the Earth, the risk of collisions threatens operational satellites, national security assets, and future missions. Active Debris Removal is emerging as a foundational capability for responsible spacefaring nations, and India is seeking to build indigenous capacity in this domain.
Phanindra’s founder journey mirrors the narrative the show aims to spotlight. Raised in Chattaparru, a small village roughly 300 kilometres from Hyderabad, he pursued engineering education outside major metros before completing his Master’s degree at IIT Kanpur and PhD at IIT Madras. After working with ISRO, he chose to build a mission-driven venture focused on advancing India’s position in the global space ecosystem.
Cosmoserve Space currently operates with a 15-member multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and scientists. The startup remains in the product development phase, with commercial deployment targeted for 2028.
With this investment, Bharat Ke Super Founders continues to position itself as a platform that goes beyond pitch-led entertainment, enabling founders tackling complex, nationally relevant challenges to access structured capital. The Cosmoserve Space deal underscores the show’s emphasis on backing ventures that combine scientific depth, strategic importance, and long-term impact.
