‘Moshi, Moshi Pixel,’ says Japan as iPhone sales drop

Google’s Pixel phones are gaining popularity in Japan, taking market share away from Apple’s iPhones. Pixel phones now hold 12% of the smartphone market in Japan, while iPhone’s market share dropped from 58% to 46%. The majority of the devices sold by Google in Japan belong to the budget Pixel 6a and 7a series. The weakening yen has made Pixel phones a great bargain for non-Japanese buyers. In addition, Pixel phones are also experiencing growth in North America, with shipments doubling from last year.
