India leads in mobile data usage at 32GB/month, 5G subscriptions set to triple by 2030: Report

India continues to outpace the world in mobile data consumption, clocking an average of 32GB per smartphone user per month — the highest globally — according to the June 2025 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report.

This number is set to nearly double to 62GB by 2030, reflecting the country’s surging demand for digital services and data-hungry applications.

The report, which was released on Tuesday, highlights India’s accelerating 5G adoption, with 5G subscriptions reaching 290 million by the end of 2024, or 24% of all mobile users.
