ChatGPT users now send over 2.5 billion prompts a day, OpenAI says

OpenAI’s ChatGPT continues to see explosive global growth, with users now sending more than 2.5 billion prompts daily, according to data first reported by Axios on July 21. Of these, over 330 million prompts come from users in the United States alone.

The figures mark a sharp increase from December 2024, when OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said ChatGPT was receiving over 1 billion queries a day — suggesting usage has more than doubled in just eight months.
