Cybercrime in India jumps 31% in 2023; fraud makes up nearly 70% of cases: NCRB

Cybercrime in India surged by 31.2% in 2023, with fraud, extortion and sexual exploitation driving most of the cases, according to the latest Crime in India report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

The number of cases under the cybercrime category rose to 86,420 last year from 65,893 in 2022, while the crime rate increased from 4.8% to 6.2%.
