Govt officials acting on ‘whims and fancies’: X Corp tells Karnataka HC

X Corp has accused the central government of misusing its powers to arbitrarily issue takedown orders for online content, arguing before the Karnataka High Court that such actions violate statutory safeguards and are not grounded in law.
Representing the social media platform, X Corp’s counsel argued that online content “cannot be regulated as per the whims and fancies” of government officials, and criticised the approach as being based on the notion of “I think so, therefore it is so.”
