A Bill introduced by California state senator Steve Padilla seeks to ban the manufacture and sale of toys with artificial intelligence chatbot capabilities for children under 18, according to a media release from his office on January 2.

The proposed legislation calls for a four-year ban to protect children from what the Bill describes as potentially “dangerous AI interactions”.
