Infosys promoters opt out of Rs 18,000 crore share buyback

Infosys promoters and promoter groups, including cofounders Narayan Murthy and Nandan Nilekani, and Sudha Murty, have decided not to participate in the company’s largest-ever Rs 18,000 crore share buyback programme, according to a stock exchange filing on Wednesday.

As of the day the buyback was announced, promoters held a 13.05% stake in the Indian IT major. If the offer is fully subscribed, their shareholding would rise to 13.37%. Meanwhile, public ownership would dip slightly from 86.95% to 86.63%, the filing showed.
