Manufacturing is moving from static to hyper-flexible automation

Global manufacturing is undergoing a shift–from fixed, rigid assembly lines to software-defined, reconfigurable factories, said Cedrik Neike, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries and member of the managing board of Siemens AG.

“Labour arbitrage is not going to be the differentiation for factories of the future,” Neike said in an interview. The country must “build jobs that are competitive worldwide… If India tries to copy traditional manufacturing, it will not catch up. It needs to leapfrog.”
