Perplexity makes Comet AI browser free for all, adds background assistant for Max users

US-based AI startup Perplexity has opened its Comet AI browser to everyone for free, three months after launching it exclusively for Max subscribers. The move makes the browser available to free, Pro, and Max users worldwide.
Announcing the rollout on X, CEO Aravind Srinivas said, “Comet is now generally available to download for everyone (free, Pro and Max users)!”
