Sugarcane arrears may swell on ethanol cuts, unchanged sugar prices: ISMA

The Indian Sugar and Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) on Wednesday urged the government to swiftly fix ethanol allocation disparities, revise ethanol and sugar prices, and ensure fair market operations. The industry body warned that the steep cut in sugar-based ethanol allocation could lead to surplus sugar stocks, underused distilleries, and delayed payments to farmers in 2025–26.
