Tech majors keep count up despite one outlier

India’s top six Indian IT companies saw a net headcount addition of 952 in Q2FY26, down 77% compared to last quarter, dragged by Tata Consultancy Services‘ sharp quarterly reduction. Barring TCS, other five majors added more than 20,000 employees.

That compares with a net sectoral reduction of 805 in the last quarter – and roughly matches the number of jobs shed by the Tata powerhouse in the second quarter.

Infosys, the second biggest on the exporter leader-board, added more than 8,000 employees. Similarly, smaller peers HCLTech, Wipro, Tech Mahindra
