Italy’s competition authority raids Meta premises over abuse probe into AI in WhatApp

Italy’s competition authority, AGCM, has launched a formal investigation into Meta Platforms to determine whether the company’s decision to pre-install artificial intelligence into WhatsApp may amount to abuse of dominance.
The investigations were conducted at the premises of Meta’s Italian subsidiary on July 29 by the AGCM officials, assisted by the Special Antitrust Unit of the Italian Financial Police.
