The government, under its Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups (GENESIS) scheme, will aid 1,600 technology startups to discover, nurture and grow in tier 2 and 3 towns. The government has set aside Rs 490 crore to spend on the ambitious programme over the next five years.

It has also supported 458 AI startups, including in tier-2 locations, through 24 Centre of Excellences (COEs) at Software Technology Park of India (STPI)
