Apple, Google make it harder for governments to ‘spy’ on users
Apple and Google have updated their policies to require a judge’s order for law enforcement officials to access user data, including push notification data. Previously, Oregon Senator Ron Wyden revealed that officials were requesting push notification data from both companies, which includes metadata about app usage and associated accounts. The US government had previously restricted the release of this data.
