Ather’s Tarun Mehta seeks review of auto PLI scheme; says policy excludes key EV players

Tarun Mehta, cofounder and CEO of Ather Energy, has called for a review of the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the auto sector, noting that it has not been effective in boosting local electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and has left out some of the segment’s largest players.

“Our constant push to the government is that while PLI is such an important policy and it can drive so much new manufacturing capacity, in auto, we should introspect more because it hasn’t driven much,” Mehta said on the sidelines of the
