Delhi HC rejects WhatsApp, Facebook appeals against CCI probe

The Delhi High Court rejected WhatsApp and Facebook’s appeals against the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) decision to investigate the instant messaging app’s updated privacy policy in 2021 on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Refusing to stay the anti-trust regulator’s investigation, a Bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad directed WhatsApp’s counsel to seek relief from the CCI. WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook, now known as Meta, had both challenged a single-judge bench order dismissing their petitions against the CCI-ordered investigation into WhatsApp’s new privacy policy.
