The way most products are built, data privacy is an afterthought, said Razorpay chief operating officer (COO) Rahul Kothari, adding that these are the real implementation challenges of personalisation in retail that need to be solved.

“In a lot of cases, companies take the consent of the customers without revealing what they are collecting the data for. Customers also don’t get control over the consent,” said Kothari, while speaking at a panel discussion at the ET Soonicorns Summit 2025 on Thursday.
