Explained: What is artificial streaming and how Spotify is fighting it

Spotify has announced changes to its payment policy for artists and labels. Songs that do not reach a minimum threshold of 1,000 streams per year will no longer be eligible for payments. The move is aimed at eliminating fraud on the platform and redistributing saved money to established artists. Additionally, artists with fewer than 1,000 streams in the last 28 days will not be able to participate in Spotify’s marketing toolset.
