Google moves Supreme Court against CCI over Play Store billing policy

Google has moved the Supreme Court of India, challenging an order by the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) that partly upheld the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) findings on the company’s Play Store billing policy.

The case stems from a CCI directive that found Google guilty of abusing its dominant market position

by mandating that app developers use its proprietary billing system for in-app purchases. The commission had imposed a penalty of ₹936 crore, a portion of which—up to ₹216 crore—was later upheld by NCLAT….
