Indian government issued an urgent warning to some Microsoft users
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has discovered several new vulnerabilities in the Microsoft Edge web browser. CERT-IN is a government organisation that monitors and alerts on bugs and vulnerabilities in operating systems. The organisation has issued a warning to users about the possibility of a cyber attack and system exploitation, classifying these vulnerabilities as ‘high’ severity.
“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) that could be exploited by a remote attacker to gain elevated privilege and bypass security restrictions on the targeted system,” according to a warning advisory published on the CERT-In website. According to CERT-vulnerability IN’s notes, new bugs in the Microsoft Edge browser (Chromium-based) may allow remote cyber attackers to gain more control and access over the targeted systems, allowing them to steal sensitive data and circumvent security restrictions.
