IT services division Wipro fires 300 employees who work for competitors

IT services giant Wipro has fired 300 employees in recent months who were found to be moonlighting for competitors, weighing in on a practise that has gained traction around the world as firms adopt work-from-home norms.

Rishad Premji, chairman of Wipro, which employs over 250,000 people in over 50 countries, stated at a conference on Wednesday that moonlighting for competitors is a “act of integrity violation.” “As part of transparency, people can have candid and open conversations about playing in a band or working on a weekend project.” That is an open conversation about which the organisation and the individual can reach a joint decision about whether it works for them or not,” he says.
