Meta flags DPDP Act clauses, seeks government collaboration

Social media major Meta has some concerns with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act putting curbs on profiling and behavioural tracking of minors, the possibility of localisation of data, and verifiable parental consent, a senior company executive told ET.

The DPDP Act was enacted by Parliament in 2023. The final rules for operationalising the Act are expected to be notified soon.
