Microsoft has laid off 40 more workers in Washington state, continuing a year-long trend of job reductions even as the tech giant posts record profits and doubles down on artificial intelligence investments.

The latest layoffs were disclosed in a state filing on Monday and are separate from earlier announcements of global job cuts, according to The Seattle Times. Microsoft had already revealed plans to lay off more than 6,000 employees in May, followed by another 9,000 in July.
