Netflix uses generative AI in original series for the first time

Netflix has integrated generative artificial intelligence (AI) into one of its original TV shows for the first time. Co-chief executive Ted Sarandos said the technology was employed in The Eternauts, an Argentinian science fiction series, to create a sequence showing a building collapsing in Buenos Aires.

“That sequence actually is the very first [generative] AI final footage to appear on screen in a Netflix original series or film. So the creators were thrilled with the result,” Sarandos said during the company’s second-quarter earnings call.
