Norms unveiled to fire up electronics parts manufacturing in India

The government on Saturday released the guidelines for applications to the Rs 23,000-crore electronics components manufacturing scheme (ECMS), aimed at increasing domestic value addition in the electronics industry.Companies having local design teams and ‘six sigma’ quality will be major factors in evaluating applications, union electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
