NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), NPCI’s international arm, has partnered with Worldline, a digital payment company based in France, to launch unified payments interface (UPI) and RuPay payments in Europe.

Worldline is the first European company to offer UPI and RuPay to European merchants and Indian natives visiting Europe. It will also make it easier for Indian customers travelling to Europe by allowing merchants’ point-of-sale systems to accept UPI and RuPay transactions. As a result, Indian tourists’ footfall and spending will increase. According to the company, Worldline’s digital QR-based payments will first be available in BENELUX and Switzerland, where it will offer Indian digital payment products UPI and RuPay. It will be introduced in additional European countries.
