A new Microsoft report has flagged the rise of the “infinite workday” as a major barrier to unlocking the full value of AI in the workplace, even as organisations accelerate digital transformation.
In its June 2025 Work Trend Index Special Report, Microsoft says that while “Frontier Firms” — companies rapidly scaling with human-agent teams and AI at the core — are emerging, they risk being slowed down by a never-ending cycle of digital noise, fragmented schedules, and a lack of boundaries between work and personal time.
